Today on our 2019 Subaru Ascent we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the CURT T-Connector vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector.All right, this is what it's going to look like when it's installed. Now the nice thing about these is when you're not using it, you can keep it inside your car safe from all the elements. When you do need to use it, you can just simply drape it over your threshold, and put it outside that way. Now you do want to avoid putting it close to the latch because it can damage wire, but just over here on the weather strip is just fine.As you can see, it gives us plenty of length to connect to any accessory we might have. If you need to, you can actually use this dust cover to wrap it around your safety chain loop and store it outside. Say if you're using it earlier in the day, and you plan on using it later in the day, you can just keep it stored like this instead of tucking it back way inside.Now this is going to provide you with all your lighting functions that you need to be legal and safe. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2019 Subaru Forester- Video
Today on our 2019 Subaru Forester, we're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install the Curt T-connector, Vehicle Wiring Harness, the four fold flat trailer connector.Our wiring's going to give us all the proper lighting functions to safely tow a trailer. Both turn signals, our brake lights and our running lights. We're going to have three amps per circuit for our stop and turn signal, six amps per circuit for our tail lights, and it's going to be compatible with five, six and seven volt adapters.One of the nice thing about this wiring is it's going to have a converter box, and what that converter box does, it protects the factory wiring on the vehicle from any back feed if the trailer wiring has an issue. It's also going to come with a nice disc cover, it's going to help protect your connections from any dirt and debris.As far as the installation on this wiring, it's very simple. It's going to plug directly into a factory wiring that's located in the back of the vehicle. First thing we need to do is we need to remove all of our floor coverings from the back of the vehicle. more

Best 2019 Subaru Ascent Trailer Wiring Options- Video
Today we're going to be taking a look at the best wiring options for our 2019 Subaru Ascent. Here we've got our options from Tekonsha and CURT. These are going to be very similar between the two, but there are going to be some subtle differences. We'll cover those first.The first thing you'll notice is that the Tekonsha here has a much smaller, more compact module than our CURT does. Also, when it comes to the module, Tekonshas typically last longer due to the potting material that's inside that keeps everything from bouncing around and keeps out dirt, debris, and moisture, whereas the CURT here is just sealed inside this box, so it does have the capability for something to come loose or moisture to enter in where the wires go through.Next you'll notice here that our CURT has a fuse holder included on its harness for its included 10-amp fuse, where our Tekonsha here doesn't have a separate fuse so it's only protected by the vehicle's fuse. Where this could become a difference is if you did have a fault on your trailer and the module was unable to shut down that circuit in time, a fuse could potentially open, which would open a fuse on your vehicle, where our CURT here has an inline fuse that would open rather than the vehicle's fuse. more

Today in our 2019 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector.Here's what our wiring's going to look like once we have it installed. It is designed to stay on the inside of the vehicle until we're ready to use it.Once we want to, we simply drop it out the rear hatch, making sure that we stay away from the latch mechanism. We can go ahead and shut the hatch, and the weather stripping here is going to provide enough cushion that it won't damage the wire. As you can see, we'll have plenty of wire to hook up to our trailer.Our wiring's going to give us a 4-Pole flat trailer connector, and all the lights we need to get down the road safely, like our tail light signals, turn signals, and our brake lights.Our wiring does have a converter box, so it's going to take the signal from our Subaru and convert it into a working signal for our trailer. But it's also going to protect our car from any kind of back beating or any problems that may arise from the trailer end.As far as installation goes, our wiring's going to be extremely straightforward. Now, it is going to have an included dust cap that is permanently attached, and it's going to provide us all the lights required by law to get down the road when we're towing our trailer, such as our tail lights, turn signals, and even our brake lights.Now, when we're not towing, and we're not using our wiring, we can simply open up our hatch, and our wiring is actually going to store right in this compartment right underneath our floor covering. The nice part about having the wiring on the inside is that we're not going to have to worry about any of the elements getting to our wires or corroding our connection points.Now, our wiring is a custom wiring kit, so we're not going to have to cut or splice into any wires on our Forester. We're just going to have one panel that we're going to have to remove right here and there's going to be a plug back here that our harness is going to plug directly into. Now, our wiring kit does come wiring everything needed to get it installed, including the converter box to take our signal from our car and send it out to our trailer, as well as an included fuse and fuse holder to protect our vehicle, and the wiring from any kind of back feeding or any other kind of issues that may arise.Now that we've seen the end result of our wiring and gone over some of the features, let's show you how to get it installed. more

Speaker 1: Today, on our 2018 Subaru Crosstrek, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha T-One vehicle wiring-harness with a 4-pole, flat trailer connector, part number 118467.One nice thing about this wiring harness, if we're not using it, we can easily conceal it and store it inside the spare tire compartment of our vehicle. Now when we want to use it, we can grab the wiring harness, pull it out, drape it over our hatch, make sure it's to the side of our latch, and close our hatch down over it, and we have an adequate length of wire to reach down by the receiver of our hitch to hook up to our trailer. Now this wiring harness is great, because it requires no modification of the vehicle in order to install it. It hooks right up to your vehicle's existing, factory-installed, tow-package connector, and provides the necessary lighting functions that are required by law in order for you to safely and legally tow a trailer.This green wire here provides our right turn signal and right brake light. On that circuit, we have 2.1 amps of power output, which is sufficient to tow a trailer that has one incandescent light bulb on that side. If you have LEDs, since they draw less power, you can run a few more light bulbs. more

All right, here's what our wiring looks like installed. This four pull flat wiring gives us our basic lighting functions that are required by law in order to safely tow a trailer. Our brown wire gives us our tail light and running light signal. Our yellow wire gives us our left turn signal and left brake light, and our green wire gives us our right turn signal and right brake light. We have this nice dust cover here to help protect our connector when it's not in use to keep any dirt and debris from entering the socket causing a poor connection or a short. Now, this wiring harness has a total of six amps of power output for our tail light and running light circuit. more

Today on our 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon, we're going to be taking a look at, and also showing you how to install, the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four full flat trailer connector, part number is HM11143865. Now, Hopkins Plug-In Simple Custom Fit Wiring is going to give us a four full trailer connection at the rear of our vehicle, which is going to be excellent to use for your small trailers and cargo carriers, things like that. Now, this plug delivers right turn and brake, left turn and brake, tail light signal, and also ground. The way it's going to connect to our vehicle is really quite simple. We've got an 8 Pin connector, and this is going to plug right into a connector that already exists on your Subaru. It's going to give us our right turning brake, our left turning brake, our running lights, and also our ground for our trailer. Now to do that, we're simply going to plug this in in an already existing port in the back of the Crosstrek. It's going to make it nice and simple. It gets its power from the dedicated power source and it's going to get all of its signals from the lights coming in through here. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2008 Subaru Forester- Video
Today on our 2008 Subaru Forester, we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, part number is 118461. Now, when ready for use we're going to pull our wiring out, whatever length that we're going to need to make our connection. Soft rubber gasket there is going to give us the protection that we need, and we can just simply close the door right on top. Make our connection back here with our trailer and we're going to be good to go there. When not in use, simply tuck it away, keep it in our storage compartment there. That way it won't be mixed up with all of our other tools and storage area. I like putting it down here in the bottom, personally. Here's our 4-pole flat trailer connector. more

Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to take a look at, then show you how to install the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness. This offers the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. It's part number is HM11143885. Now our 4-pole wire, that's going to come right off the end of the back of the bumper here. You see we've got that nice pad there so when we close the door it allows that to compress without having any harm done to it. Connect it to our cargo carrier or trailer, whatever you've got. Today on our 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. Part number is C56040. Now when we're ready to use our wiring we can simply bring it back and see nice cushioning there, it's going to protect our wire, pull out whatever length we need to connect to our trailer. When not in use, put our dust cover around it there, and what I like to do is just kind of bundle my wiring up, bring that around, secure it off, and we can put the rest of our trays back in place. Now this is what our wiring kit is going to look like when we pull it out of the package. That's what we're after there, that's going to be our standard 4-Pole trailer connector. This will allow us to connect to a trailer, maybe a cargo carrier, it's going to give us our right turn and brake, left turn and brake, our running lights, and our ground. Now to deliver that signal to the trailer, we've got out converter box. more

Here's what this wiring is going to look like once it's installed on the vehicle. As you can see we've got access to it from underneath the trunk here. When it's not in use it's easy to tuck it away inside the trunk so that way it maintains a nice, clean look when not in use, but it's also very easy to access whenever you do need it. Now with this wiring one of the nice things is that with the way it's set up, it plugs directly into the vehicle's existing wiring system instead of having to put T connectors behind the tail lights and then run it down. This way it's a lot simpler and a lot more straightforward. more

Today on our 2016 Subaru Legacy, we'll be installing the Tow Ready T-1 Connector Assembly with Upgraded Circuit Protector Module Light. Part number 118671. The first thing that we're going to want to do in order to install our trailer wiring is to pop our trunk. If your vehicle is equipped with these cargo nets, you want to unhook them on either side and lay them out of your way. Now, we'll want to remove this trim panel piece that's above our bumper. To do that, start to unscrew the cargo net hooks. One on either side. more

Part number is C56040. Here's what your kit is going to look like when you pull it out of the package. Here's our main goal, that's our four pull flat trailer connector. Going to have our hardware kit, a dust cover to go over the end of the plug to keep any dirt and debris out and then a full kit of instructions. The heart of the system or the main part of the system is going to be our module box. This is going to take the signal from the factory plug and run it into our box and then send that out as a usable signal for our trailers so all of our lights will work. It gets it's power from the plug, gets all of it's signals from the plug so it's a really nice, easy just a plug in situation. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2013 Subaru Forester- Video
Today on our 2013 Subaru Forester, we're going to show you the Curt T connector vehicle long harness with a four portal flat trailer connector. Part number C56040. What this wire harness does, is it takes battery power that comes from this red wire right here, the signals from the wires come into the box, or a module and then as soon as it is copied, then it goes out to your trailer. This will protect your vehicle wiring harness from any shorts or damage from the trailer wiring. The parts that you get are the wire harness here at the module and the fort that fits into the vehicle. It also has a fuse holder which comes complete with a fuse. A very nice long length of four pole wire and this is our four pole end right here. It also comes with a cap. more
